Seismic performance of reinforced concrete buildings with double concave friction pendulum base isolation system: case study of design by Indonesian code

Seismic isolation systems for buildings design are not as popular in the seismically active developing countries they developed ones. Several factors contribute to this, namely lack of knowledge on benefits seismic systems, unfamiliarity with procedure, and absence relevant building codes that provide guideline using system such countries. Recently, Indonesian code has been updated included structures system. This paper describes a case study procedure performance evaluation base-isolated reinforced concrete double-concave friction pendulum (DCFP) bearing following most recent code. performances typical 10-story fixed-base under risk-targeted maximum considered earthquake (MCER) Jakarta city, capital Indonesia, investigated nonlinear finite element analysis. The results demonstrate DCFP bearings have better than conventional MCER. improvements observed form reductions base shear force, top-story acceleration, acceleration amplification ratio, interstory drift ratio. Comparisons different types arrangement demonstrated all low performed best among models bearings.
